Mystery Photo Sunday.... Norwood, Minnesota.... Hoelz or Wagner family??

Mystery Photo Sunday
I have such a large photo archive... of both relative & nonrelative photos... that I've decided to do a weekly spotlight of one of the 'mystery photos' in my possession.

This unidentified wedding couple was photographed in Norwood, Minnesota
(today known as Norwood Young America)

While their identities are unknown, it is possible that they are related to the Hoelz or Wagner families who lived in the area (Carver County)

Mystery Photo Sunday- Bert Round & wife... Freeborn County, Minnesota

Mystery Photo Sunday
I have such a large photo archive... of both relative & nonrelative photos... that I've decided to do a weekly spotlight of one of the 'mystery photos' in my possession.

"Bert Round & Bride"

Possibly of the Twin Lakes area...
or Northern Iowa...

My Great-Grandma told me years ago, that this photo was of "Bert Round & his wife".... They aren't relatives, but must have been good enough friends that their wedding portrait ended up in our family photo scrapbook.

There is, of course, the possibility that Grandma misidentified the photo... but I think she was right.
It is a great photo... and I'd love to be able to reunite it with a family member...

[** Update 5/6/14- Photo was returned to a Round descendant! Thanks to Barb for helping in the quest]

Carver County, Minnesota... Minnesota Research Resource~

As a genealogist from Minnesota, I take great pride in the many resources our state has in place to aide researchers! Many, like the death index, are very well known, but many many others are not.

So I've decided to spotlight a few of the lesser known greats here, in hopes that I can connect someone with a tool they can use! Since Saturdays are good days to do genealogy (at least for us working folks), I decided to post these links then.

Carver County has some wonderful county resources... the Historical Society page not only has detailed listings of their holdings... but there is also a wonderful "Newspaper Index Search" which will search their vast index.

A wonderful resource! Check it would if you have any connection to Carver County or the surrounding area~

It appears that they have a pretty impressive archive... and while they don't have any real records posted on the website, they do give a very detailed description of what resources they have.... Anyone with Fillmore County history should definitely check it out!

Mystery Photo- Southern Minnesota?

Mystery Photo Sunday

I have such a large photo archive... of both relative & nonrelative photos... that I've decided to do a weekly spotlight of one the 'mystery photos' in my possession.

This photo came in an old frame that I purchased a garage sale, a couple of years ago, in Southern Minnesota.

There are no identifying marks or photographer information. And it is very likely that the photo was taken far from the location it ended up. I just thought it was too nice of a portrait to throw in the trash...

Possibly from the 1940s? Based on clothing....
Possibly family members or even siblings?
The women are wearing flowers... for a special occasion? Or just fashion statement?

Hopefully someday, someone will recognize these fine folks and claim them!

It appears that the group is pretty active... and you will find photos and other information posted... and while it appears you have to "log in" and creat an account, there seems to be plenty of things one can do with the website.

Mystery Photo- Freeborn County, MN?

Mystery Photo Sunday

I have such a large photo archive... of both relative & nonrelative photos... that I've decided to do a weekly spotlight of one the 'mystery photos' in my possession.

This photo was included in an album from the Twin Lakes, Freeborn County, MN area.

Most were members of the Nelson - Grinolds-Schoonover family. The family came from New York, to Wisconsin... and some eventually made their way to Freeborn County.

It'd be wonderful to identify this young girl & how she connects into the family.

Thanks for looking... and stop back next week if you'd like another Mystery Photo.
