Today it is James George...
older brother of my GGG-Grandfather Myron George
This is a great photo of James George [1844-1916] dressed in his Civil War Uniform. James was born in China, Wyoming County, New York, the oldest child of Lee & Sally (Silloway) George. He grew up in Erie, Holland County, NY and later moved with his family to Alma, Allegany County, NY.
Sometime after serving in the Civil War he was married and settled in Southern Minnesota, eventually relocating to Central City, Iowa in the 1900's, where he had a brother living.
I do not know anything about the early life of James George, or about his military service. He did not have any children and I have yet to focus any significant research on him and his life.
