LOST Ferris Family Bible... Redwood Falls, MN

Last Summer I was at an estate auction and up came this old leather bible...

A gift to Jay W. Ferris from his wife Rhoda (Driesbock) Ferris

This large bible is not in perfect shape.. the front cover as come apart from the binding... but the handwritten pages contain lots of genealogical information...

It seems a sad tragedy for this bible to not be in the hands of some descendant who would appreciate it.

It appears that this family ended up living in Redwood Falls after moving from Wisconsin.

I would love to return this great family heirloom to a descendant who would treasure it!

[update- 04/30/2017- This lovely family heirloom was returned to a relative! Thanks to all who assisted in the efforts to find a permanent home for this treasure]

  1. there is a listing on Ancestry.com for a Jay W. Ferris with Rhoda as his wife. They are listed in the Dreisbach family database.

  2. There is a Rebecca Dreisbach married to my 3X Gr. Grandfather Daniel Wentz here in PA. No idea if there is a connection. Haven't researched Dreisbach yet. It would be an awful shame for it to go untreasured.

  3. Jay's daughter Grace married Arleigh Jerome Simpson. They had a rather decorated son Maurice E. Simpson. His 2004 obituary lists the following: He leaves a sister Betty and her husband Ray Vargas of Modesto, Calif. and two sons, George, a retired Navy Captain in Washington D.C. and Bill, a retired Veteran Services Officer and his wife Mary K. in Aptos, Calif. He also leaves three grandaughters, Debby Simpson of Encinitas, Jennifer Simpson of Del Mar and Katie Simpson of Portland, Oregon.

  5. Hi, I am not a direct descendant, but my husband and son are related to Jay W. Ferris. I would love to give this Bible a good home and preserve the records for family researchers. Either way, thank you for finding it and taking care of it. :)
